Members of the Buffalo Grove Rotary and other Rotarians have taken the trip for the last decade where vocational training, education and healthcare are provided to indigenous people in Ak’ Tenamit, a small village and school in eastern Guatemala.

“The Ak’ Tenamit project is a small group of people from small towns going to work at a small school in a small country…who make a huge impact in the lives of those they serve,” said Dan Wolf, Buffalo Grove Rotary member and International Services Chair for the Ak' Tenamit trip, along with co-chair Stephen Legge.

In addition to education and training, there is also an emphasis on environmental and cultural preservation, gender equality and income support provided by those who make the trip each year.

The cost is $40 per person, which can be paid at the door. A cash bar will open at 6:00 p.m., and will be followed by dinner and the presentation beginning at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 cash raffle and a drawing for a variety of Guatemalan handcrafted items.
