Palatine Township and Cook County Sheriff’s Office co-host a Prescription Drug Take Back, Paper Recycling and Electronic Recycling Event on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:00 am - Noon. The event will be held at Palatine Township Center parking lot located at 721 South Quentin Road in Palatine. This service is provided to all Township residents with no appointment necessary.

At this event, you will drive through Palatine Township parking lot entering from westbound Illinois Avenue just east of Quentin Road. Volunteers will take items out of your car.

Electronic Recycling: Cables – all type, Cell phones/Telephone Devices, Computer/Laptops, Hardware/motherboards, Holiday lights, Printers/fax machines/game systems/monitors/calculators, Televisions- Limit one per household/car, Toasters/blenders/toner cartridges and UPS batteries/car batteries

Paper Shredding: Cook County Sheriff’s Office shred paper at its secured facility and do not shred on-site. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is NAID certified. Bring all paperwork in need of shredding and disposal and remove all paper clips, binder clips, and rubber bands.

Prescription Drug Take Back: Collection is anonymous. Bring unwanted/expired human and pet medication to ensure proper disposal- pills only. Pills may be brought in prescription bottles, which will be shredded to destroy identity or in unmarked plastic bags.

Liquid medication and sharps will not be accepted

Palatine Township is your main source of humanitarian aid in our community. The Township provides numerous services and events for its 115,000 residents and supports 32 social service agencies located within its boundaries. The Township is one of the most heavily populated in Illinois, with a goal to enhance and improve the quality of life for all of its residents. The following communities are part of the Township: Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Inverness, Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Barrington, South Barrington and Schaumburg.
