Parker Players Theater Company Presents The Roommate by Jen Silverman
What happens when the person who moves into your spare bedroom opens the door to an entirely different life?
Parker Players Theater Company presents Jen Silverman’s The Roommate, a sharp, funny and unexpectedly moving comedy about friendship, identity and the possibility of starting over—at any age.
Sharon is recently divorced, living alone in Iowa and wondering what comes next. Enter Robyn, her new roommate: mysterious, unconventional and carrying a past that is decidedly more colorful than Sharon’s. As the two women become fascinated by each other’s lives, their unlikely friendship begins to challenge everything they thought they knew about themselves.
Sharon has spent a lifetime doing what was expected of her. Robyn has spent hers breaking rules and reinventing herself. But as each woman begins trying on pieces of the other’s world, The Roommate
asks a provocative question: Are we defined by who we say we are—or by what we choose to do next?
Directed by Kurt Naebig and starring Barrington residents Ann Field and Jennifer McHugh, The Roommate is an intimate, entertaining two-woman play filled with humor, surprises and genuine heart.
For anyone who has ever looked at their life and wondered, “What if I’m not finished becoming who I want to be?”
The Roommate opens October 16 and runs through November 8. All performances at The Parker Players Theater: 540 W Northwest Hwy Barrington 60010. Tickets on sale now via link to website (click 'more).

Pulse Technology

Robots are becoming a popular part of the workforce, and there is a lot more to robotics than you might initially think.
Pulse Technology (<a href="https://pulsetechnology.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://pulsetechnology.com</a>) is offering a free webinar to help business owners understand robotics and how robots can fit into the workplace. Please join Pulse Technology Vice President Vince Miceli on November 5 at 10 a.m. CT for this informative online presentation.
“Workplace Robotics: Myth vs. Reality” will help attendees get past the hype, challenge what you think you already know about robotics, and explore what automaton could look like for your business.
Participants will learn how robotics is making an impact in key areas of business:
• Cleaning: Automating routine floor cleaning and keeping facilities looking their best.
• Warehousing: Moving materials and supplies to help keep operations running.
• Serving: Supporting hospitality teams with food and item delivery.
• Delivery: Transporting items where they need to go, with less manual effort.
The presentation will also address key topics of interest to business owners including:
• Common myths about workplace robotics and what's actually true.
• Where robots can make a real difference in day-to-day operations.
• How automation can take repetitive tasks off your team's plate.
• What to consider when exploring robotics for your workplace.
Vince Miceli said, “You don’t need to be a tech expert to get in on the conversation. Just bring your questions, your curiosity, and an open mind. The robots are coming. You might as well know what they can do.”
