Chicago Area Hospital Employees Being Tested For Coronavirus

The emergency room workers at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates were on duty when a woman was treated for coronavirus.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — Several employees who were working in the emergency room at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates when a Chicago woman was treated for coronavirus are now being tested for the virus, ABC 7 is reporting. The Centers for Disease Control is recommending anyone whose came in contact with the woman to be self-quarantined and, if they show symptoms, to be tested for the virus.

The woman, who recently visited China, is believed to have passed the coronavirus onto her husband, who also was treated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. The couple became the first U.S. case where the virus was spread through person-to-person contact.
