City Officials Remind Residents State Will Not Mail Vehicle Registration Reminders
The state has also decided to stop mailing out reminders for vehicle emissions testing.
The following information comes from a village of Palatine e-news alert.
Due to the State budget impasse, the Illinois Secretary of State's Office has suspended the practice of mailing vehicle registration renewal notices, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has suspended the practice of mailing vehicle emissions test notices, city officials said in a recent Palatine e-news update.
The Secretary of State's Office will temporarily allow license plate renewals for vehicle owners who have not yet taken the EPA emissions test and whose license plates expire by the end of this month. Vehicles subject to testing in 2016 includes most even model-year vehicles with a model year of 1996 to 2012. For more information on vehicle emissions testing, contact the IEPA by clicking here or by calling (847) 758-3400 or (800) 635-2380.
