Convicted Armed Robber Of Palatine Tanning Salon Sentenced To 10 Years

Mark E. Silverston, of Arlington Heights, was accused of holding up the business in October of 2015.

An Arlington Heights man was sentenced to 10 years last week in connection with the armed robbery of a Palatine tanning salon in 2015, the Daily Herald reports. Mark E. Silverston was convicted on armed robbery, aggravated robbery and theft charges, and his sentence was handed down Thursday, according to the report.

The tanning salon armed robbery happened at around 1:35 p.m. Oct. 17, 2015, the report stated. According to court records, Silverston entered the salon, flashed the handgun hidden beneath his hooded sweatshirt and demanded money from an employee, the report added. Security cameras at the salon and a nearby business captured Silverton wearing his hood up during the armed robbery and with it down before the incident, respectively.
