It is very important to elect school board candidates that have the knowledge, skills and determination to bring our neighborhood schools up to the level of the rest of the Palatine schools. Presently Jane Addams is rated a 3, while Pleasant Hill, Whitley, Hunting Ridge, and others are rated a 10. A former honor student that attended a Virginia Lake Elementary School informed me that when her family moved from Virginia Lake School District to Hunting Ridge, it took her over 6 months to catch up plus her teachers thought she came from an inner city school.

We owe it to the children and our own financial well being to see this situation corrected so every child gets the same education.

1) LEARN WHAT CAN BE DONE TO IMPROVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS' REPORT CARD WITHOUT THE NEED TO BUILD A NEW SCHOOL.

2) LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NEW BOARD HIRING THE RIGHT SUPERINTENDENT WITH THE EXPERIENCE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS IN OUR SCHOOL. The current Superintendent is set to retire in 2018. The Board elected in April will be tasked with finding an experienced and qualified leader for our schools.

3) LEARN ABOUT THE SPECIAL TALENTS THAT THESE CANDIDATES POSSESS THAT WOULD MAKE THEM AN ASSET TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY.

4) MEET THE CANDIDATES! The Engage D15 candidates (who live in our neighborhoods) have made themselves available to residents by hosting coffees, attending candidate forums and neighborhood meetings such as this.

Attend this evening's meeting or visit www.EngageD15.com or www.facebook.com/EngageD15

Please forward to any friends and surrounding neighbors. This is our last chance to make a difference.

Thank you, Barb Kerlin
