Drunken Driver Crashes Through House in Stolen Car, Then Tackles Homeowner While Fleeing: Cops
No one was hurt in the accident early Christmas Eve morning in Arlington Heights. The car was registered to a Palatine address.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — An Arlington Heights man is accused of driving drunk when he crashed a stolen car through a village house early Christmas Eve morning and then tackled the homeowner when he tried to escape, the Daily Herald reports.
Evan Bennett, 23, of the 600 block of West Campbell Street, was charged with driving under the influence, criminal trespass to a vehicle, batter and multiple traffice violations, including hit and run, the report stated. He was released on bail, and his next court date is Jan. 12, the report added.
Arlington Heights police claim Bennett was seen walking away from a car that had barrelled through a home in the 300 block of South Ridge Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, the Herald reports. The stolen vehicle, which was registered to a Palatine address, plowed through the home's porch pillar and through a window into the living room, the report added.

The homeowner yelled at Bennett as he fled the crash scene and began to chase after him, the report stated. Bennett eventually turned back, however, and tackled the homeowner, the report added.
No one was hurt in the accident, and the hole in the house left by the car has been boarded up, according to the Herald.
