Educate Yourself on the D15 Referendum: A Plan That Lacks Justification and Engagement

The referendum will be a question on the Nov. 8th ballot - residents are advised to educate themselves.

Here is the question you will see on the ballot: Shall the Board of Education of Palatine Community Consolidated School District Number 15, Cook County, Illinois, build and equip two school buildings, acquire a site for one of said school buildings, improve the sites of both of said school buildings and issue bonds of said School District to the amount of $130,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?

Sounds good, right? Build and equip two school buildings.....improve the sites of said buildings.....not so good when you take a fine tooth comb and really look into this plan.....

For our D15 Kids (4RD15Kids.org) is a group of parents, community members and business owners who have joined together to encourage our community to Vote NO on the upcoming $130 million building bond referendum proposed by Community Consolidated School District 15.

We believe strongly that this plan was not vetted properly; for some reason unknown to us, our school district is in a great hurry to push through a massive bond amount that will affect our property taxes and our community as a whole - for decades to come...not to mention the complete and utter shake up felt by a substantial portion of our community in regards to school closings and reassignments. We need solid financials, we need appropriate studies conducted, and we need weigh-in from our entire community before such decisions are made.

So intent are we to show why this plan is inherently flawed, that we have created a website, which is here.We invite you, the vested District 15 stakeholders and community members, to learn more.

4RD15Kids wants the school district to start treating its stakeholders with more respect. We can't respect a plan that the community at-large had absolutely no chance to weigh in on before it was unanimously approved by the school board - on the first day of school this year, August 17, 2016.

Learn more on our website. There is a proven track record here between District 15 and its employers (we the stakeholders) that breeds distrust, and this must come to a stop. Now is the time for a better and brighter day in District 15.
