Eric L. Panfil, 62

Memorial visitation for Eric L. Panfil, 62, of Hoffman Estates for 24 years, will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with memorial service beginning at 8 p.m., at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL, 60067.

Inurnment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.

Born March 20, 1950 in Oak Park; he died peacefully June 15, 2012, at home, with family members by his side.

Eric was a devoted husband, father, and son. He loved attending his sons’ sports and band activities, and participated with each of them in Indian Guides. It was his pleasure to read to them from Brian Jacques’s “Redwall” series with full dramatic interpretation. Eric’s interests included jazz and rock music, science fiction novels, collecting and sharing fine wines with family and friends, major league baseball, pro golf, college and pro football, and studying and applying investment strategy for the benefit of his family. He was a witty punster who could always make us laugh with a turn of phrase.

Eric was the beloved husband of Mary E. Panfil (née Horn); loving father of Nicholas G. Panfil and Walter K. Panfil; dear son of Clarice M. Panfil (née Moseley); fond brother of Chistopher (Lori) Panfil and Jonathan (Diane) Panfil.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Robert V. Panfil.
