Esther Thies, 96

Funeral service for Esther Thies, 96, of Normal, IL, formerly of Palatine, will be held Tuesday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

Esther was born in Palatine, May 22, 1915, the daughter of Martha and Martin Linnemann, and she passed away at 10:27 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Normal, IL.

Esther spent her time sewing and quilting keepsakes for family and friends, and playing cards with her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (John) Donovan; grandchildren, Lynn (Tim) Banks, Lindenhurst, IL, Janice (John) Rydeski, Merrill, Wis., John (Lori) Donovan, Bloomington, IL; seven loving great-grandchildren; sister, Luella Voss, Crystal Lake, IL.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Thies; son, Robert G. Thies; sisters, Mildred Dow and Lorraine Linneweh.
