Race to Nowhere Screening

Our high-stakes and high-pressure culture has invaded our schools and our children's lives.  Childhood has been taken over by test scores, performance and competition.  As a result, we have an epidemic of unhealthy, disengaged and unprepared young people.  We can't wait for institutional and policy changes to make the changes our kids need today.   Together we can create, support and sustain an educational system that supports ALL kids as whole children, makes health a priority, values childhood and prepares young people for their future. The Illinois PTA is proud to host this screening of the nationally acclaimed documentary.  The screening will include a panel discussion immediately following the film that includes Dr. Aimee Jordan, Psy; Josh Stumpenhorst, Illinois Teacher of the year; Palatine resident, Katie Rohn, educator; and Myrdin Thompson, Nationally recognized parent advocate.   Attendees of the 110th annual Illinois PTA Convention will be admitted with their convention registration.  Public tickets are available online at www.racetonowhere.com under Find a Screening.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
