Ex-Palatine Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting 8-Year-Old Boy in Cook County
Edward Vaughan, 18, was arrested in Kentucky and is being held on $2.5M bail in Cook County.

A former Palatine resident living in Kentucky faces sexual assault charges after being accused of attacking an 8-year-old boy, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Police.
Edward Vaughan, 18, was charged this week with aggravated criminal sexual assault and child pornography. He's being held on $2.5 million bail. His next court date is Nov. 4.
The charges stem from an investigation by authorities in Washington, D.C., that started last year. Beginning Aug. 19, 2015, a D.C. undercover officer was in repeated contact with an individual — later discovered to be Vaughan — via an messaging app. Their continued online communication revealed that Vaughan, who was living in Kentucky at the time, had allegedly sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy in Cook County. The undercover also received photos of the assault from the individual, according to the sheriff's office.

A Cook County warrant for Vaughan's arrest was issued Oct. 5, and he was arrested in Kentucky that same day. Vaughan was extradited to Cook County on Oct. 19.
