Fatal Shooting Investigation Underway After Vehicle Crashes Into Parked Cars In Palatine
North Rand Road is expected to remain closed between Route 53 and Dundee during the Tuesday morning commute, according to Palatine police.
PALATINE, IL — A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive. Officials said there is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.
As an active investigation into the incident continues, Palatine police said North Rand Road is expected to remain closed between Route 53 and Dundee Road during the Tuesday morning commute. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while police process the scene.
According to police, officers responded to the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive at around 9:39 p.m. following reports of a vehicle striking multiple parked cars and a garbage dumpster.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a black Audi four-door vehicle at the location. Police said the victim, who was found seated in the driver's seat, had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The Palatine Fire Department arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance to the victim. He was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Palatine police are working in coordination with the Major Case Assistance Team to investigate the incident.
