Finally, flowers.

Every year as May comes to an end, I find myself feeling so giddy as I plan a trip to the nursery to pick out flowers. My head spins as I look around at all the beautiful choices. Sometimes I like to get unusual looking flowers that catch my eye.  But for the most part, I find myself choosing flowers that I know will be hearty and consist of ongoing blooms with vibrant color. Portulaca or "Moss Rose" are one of those summer flowers that never disappoint. They come in almost every color of the rainbow and endure extreme heat and  love the sun. They don't mind if you forget to water them now 'n then either. And best of all, they remind me of my mom. When I was a child, I recall mom always having moss rose in our garden.
