Free class: Civil War Ghosts and Legends at Harper College

Harper College will put on a free class, Civil War Ghosts and Legends, on May 10.

A President Abraham Lincoln impersonator, an instructor in period attire and a concert by the 1st Brigade Band will bring history to life in “Civil War Ghosts and Legends,” a free event on Wednesday, May 10, at Harper College

Put on by the College’s One Book, One Harper program and Lifelong Learning Institute, host Brian “Fox” Ellis will assume the persona of a German immigrant who enlisted in the Union Army and served with General Sherman as he burned Atlanta and marched to the sea. He’ll take the class back to the bloody battlefields, gruesome field hospitals and haunted graveyards of America’s deadliest war

The class, which is free and open to the public, will start at 1 p.m. May 10 in Building D, Room D195, on the College’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. To RSVP, visit goforward.harpercollege.edu/ce/onebook.
