PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College men’s soccer team had two players named to the Region IV All-Region Team. Forward/defender Alex Freeman (/St. Viator) and defender Allan Santiaguillo (/Buffalo Grove) were both named First Team All-Region. The Hawks went 8-6-2 in 2014 and finished as the Region IV runner-up to Rock Valley College.
Freeman spent the first half of the season primarily playing defense for the Hawks. Once head coach Dan Klaus moved him up to a forward position, it gave Harper a needed jolt on offense. Freeman scored a team-high eight goals and also tied for the team lead with four assists in 15 games.

His best game came in the Region IV Quarterfinals against Milwaukee Area Technical College on Oct. 18, a three-goal, two-assist performance. Freeman also scored the game winner on a penalty kick in the first half of the Hawks’ 1-0 triumph over Triton in the Region IV Semifinals.
While Santiaguillo’s contributions didn’t always show up in the box score, he was a huge factor for the Hawks on defense. The Hawks only surrendered only 16 goals in 15 games, and Santiaguillo was a big reason why, often shutting down the opposing team’s best goal scorer.
