Gary L. Ashburn, 75

Gary L. Ashburn passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 7, 2011.

Born March 2, 1936 in Garnett, KS.

Loving husband of Jilayne (nee: Pries); beloved son of Rene Morris; devoted father of Steven (Joan) Ashburn, Christopher (Linda) Ashburn and Holly (Damian) Lukasik; step father of Craig (Debra) Sinclair, Corey (Laura) Sinclair and Cheryl (Christopher) McBride; cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren; fond brother in law and uncle of many. Preceded in death by his father Kenneth G. Ashburn and his brother K. Gail Ashburn, Jr. Gary was an entrepreneur, golf enthusiast, master bridge player and avid sports fan.

Above all, he was a faithful Christian who was passionate about his family and his country.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the  Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The funeral service will be officiated by The Reverend Scott Christenson at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Road, Palatine on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11a.m. Gary was a sweet man who will be missed by all who knew him.
