Glass Door Shattered at Sprint Store; DUI Arrests: Palatine Blotter

Criminal Damage to Property
Police responded to the Sprint store, 1590 N. Rand Road, between 5:05 and 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 16 for a report of an unknown subject who used an unknown object to shatter the entry door to the business. The store was closed at that time and entry was not gained. The value of the glass repair is not known.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle
Police received a report of an unknown offender or offenders removing a Tom Tom Brand GPS from a 1997 Buick sedan in the 1400 block of North Winslowe Drive between 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 17. The victim believed the vehicle had been locked, however, there were no signs of forced entry.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle
Police received a report at 10 a.m. on Aug. 17 of a GPS that was taken from a 2014 Toyota sedan during an unknown time frame while parked in the 1200 block of Prairie Brook Drive. The vehicle may have been unlocked at the time of burglary.
Retail Theft
Police arrested Nichole M. Cadwallader, 27, of the 7400 block of Nantucket in Hanover Park, on Aug. 14 at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Police said a loss prevention employee at the store observed Cadwallader place several cosmetic and personal products, as well as a polo shirt, into her purse and pass the last point of sale without payment. The total value of the items was $25.42.
DUI
Police arrested Peter A. Hancock, 70, in the 800 block of North Quentin at 9:57 a.m. on Aug. 14. Hancock, of the 0 to 100 block of Laurel Trail in Wheeling, was charged with DUI.
