Harper College to Lay Off 29 Employees
The layoffs are in response to Illinois' ongoing budget impasse.

PALATINE, IL - Harper College is laying off 29 employees to help save the college $3.5 million as the college deals with a loss in funds from Illinois' ongoing budget impasse, the Daily Herald reports. The community college will also reduce travel, supplies and printing spending to save an additional $1.5 million as the college waits to collect $8 million in state aid and $1.5 million in Monetary Award Program grants, which are meant to help low-income students.
The 29 employees were notified about the layoffs this past week and their final day at Harper College will be June 30, according to the Daily Herald.
