Hawks Continue Improving at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Harper College women’s track and field team continued its steady improvement at the Carthage College “Gill Athletics Final Qualifier” meet on Friday. Numerous Hawks set PR’s at the meet, and the 4x400m relay team punched a ticket to nationals as well.

In the 55-meter dash, Samantha Soriano (/Hoffman Estates) (8.02 seconds) and Danielle Reptowski (/Schaumburg) (8.42 seconds) both notched career-bests. In the 200-meter dash Leah Kloss (/Grayslake Central) set a PR by taking second place with a time of 25.87 seconds, and Shayan Dussard (/Hoffman Estates) took ninth place in a PR time of 27.82 seconds.

Stephanie Chaires (Palatine, Ill./Christian Liberty) once again set a personal-best in the one mile run, winning the race in a PR time of 5:38:39. The 4x400m relay squad of Soriano, Reptowski, Kloss and Chaires teamed up to take fourth place with a national-qualifying finish time of 4:43.84.

Finally, Dussard notched a personal-best in the weight throw with a toss of 11.54m (37’10”).
