Hawks Produce Solid Results at Chicagoland Indoors

The Harper College women’s track and field team has been practicing for less than four weeks but has already seen excellent results from several of its athletes. This was the case on Friday at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships hosted by North Central College as many Hawks athletes either set new PR’s or qualified for the national meet in their respective events.

In the 200-meter dash, Ashley Proksa (/Palatine) and Leah Kloss (/Grayslake Central) set PR’s as they finished in 27.11 and 27.12 seconds, good for 16th and 17th place out of 51 sprinters. Beth Petrunich (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East) ran her best time of 29.69 seconds, and Maggie Madden (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) clocked a time of 31.96 seconds. Kloss also set a PR in the weight throw with a toss of 13.78m, good for 15th place out of 44 competitors.
