Girl Scout Troop 40523 is working on sending aid to the survivors of the 2018 Camp Fire
On November 8, 2018, at 8:30 am, a horrendous fire broke out, later to be known as the Campfire in Paradise, California. It caused $16.5 billion in damages, destroying 18,804 buildings. It would go down in history as the worst wildfire in California.

When Troop 40523 heard about this terrifying disaster, they knew they needed to help. Girl Scout Troop 40523 is working on their Silver Award project, the second-highest award in Girl Scouts. The troop ag agreed that for their Silver Award, they would send essential aid to the survivors such as cooking utensils, pans, bedding, gas gift cards, gift cards, encouraging messages, etc. Along with teaching fire safety to the younger Girl Scout Troops of Palatine to ensure that they have a lasting impact.
They will be participating in the Palatine Craft Fair on November 2nd, from 9 am to 4 pm, all of which the profits received will go towards buying and sending their aid. They are also raffling off two Chicago Wolves tickets at the fair as well. Starting in November 2019, they will be collecting non-monetary donations.

They are currently looking for a sponsor to ensure their donations make it to Paradise, California, where they so desperately need them. The survivors are still living in tents. They can’t do this without your help. To get in touch with them email them at girlscoutroop40523@gmail.com.
