High School Artists Create Palatine 150th Anniversary Banners for Palatine Library
Palatine Library exhibits banners designed by art students from Palatine High School and Fremd High School for Palatine's 150th Anniversary.
In honor of Palatine’s 150th Anniversary, Palatine Library invited Palatine High School and Fremd High School to create and display two original art pieces to celebrate and commemorate the Village of Palatine. Both schools eagerly accepted the challenge. Their completed artwork is installed in the Palatine Library underground parking, interior-entrance walls, creating impressive visual interest as you walk into the Library.
Palatine High School’s creative and colorful banner was designed by a group of artists led by students Susan Jablonski and Bojana Crnomarkovic, supervised by Department Chair Russell Horvath and teacher Nick Hostert. Fremd High School Art Club, under the direction of Art Department Chair Paul Radek, created a black and white banner depicting the Village of Palatine’s historical buildings. Bold imagery and color were used in their designs to capture well-known architecture and themes about Palatine.
“We are so pleased to be able to exhibit these original commemorative banners for the Palatine community. The students put in extra time and created imagery that speaks of Palatine’s history and importance. Thank you to both schools and to everyone that participated,” said Andrea Lublink, Palatine Library Communications and Marketing Manager.
