Hit Musical Hairspray Opens At Wheaton Drama

The eight-time Tony Award Winning Musical Hairspray comes to the Wheaton Drama stage, opening Friday, November 20th.

With direction and choreography by Patrick Stinson, musical direction by Jean Austin, and assistant direction by Cindy Hartigan, the very talented cast and crew gears up to give the audience an extremely upbeat and comically touching performance.

Set in 1962 in Baltimore, this endearing comedy follows the exploits of Tracy Turnblad, a pleasantly plump teenager with big hair, a big heart, and a dream…to dance. When she dances her way onto a local television program, The Corny Collins Show, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to an overnight teen sensation. But will her newfound popularity give her the self-confidence to vanquish the program’s reigning teen princess and win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, as well as the courage to help change the show’s segregation policy - and all without denting her ‘Do?
