How Would You Rate the Palatine Post Office?

There is no customer service at the Palatine Post Office.

I went to the Palatine Post Office today to buy some stamps for a mailing that I'm doing for my business. The ONLY reason that I went there was that I needed to buy rolls of 100 stamps, and I don't know who else sells them. As usual, there is a line of around 8 people waiting to be helped and ONE person at the window. She seemed pleasant enough, UNTIL I asked if she could please get someone to help her with customers. She said she would when she finished with the customer she was helping. Fair enough. The people standing behind me in line piped in about the lack of service there also. She continued to be pleasant until I stepped up to the window, then she was curt with me.

Now you may be wondering why I would bother to post on Patch about this. Well, a mail carrier who has told me horrible stories about a supervisor there and the Postmaster, said that the employees post the Patch on a bulletin board so the management team can see how people feel about Palatine's Post Office. So to the Postmaster -

1) You should be embarrassed at the utter lack of customer service in YOUR facility. Window agents are rarely friendly or smiling and look like they hate working there.

2) Just because the USPS is a government office and people get breaks does not mean that the rest of us do. Some of us own businesses that we have to get back to in a reasonable time. The fact that you allow long lines to form without getting more windows open is poor management and rude to your patrons.

3) Your facility is dirty and cluttered. Obviously someone is too lazy to come out and pick up clutter and all the packages that people throw around the front counter to be mailed.

4) People DO get fired for not doing their job as they should. I wish my tax money wasn't paying you're salary!
