Hundreds Gather to Honor Philanthropist Rita Canning at The Y. So Much More™ Recognition Dinner, Oct. 27, 2016

Palatine leader recognized for her devotion to YMCA of Metro Chicago programs strengthening children, individuals and families

More than 400 YMCA of Metro Chicago supporters, donors and friends will gather to honor Rita Canning of Inverness during The Y. So Much More™ Recognition Dinner, Thursday, October 27, 2016. The 6 p.m. reception at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 East Delaware Place will be followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Canning will receive the Y's "So Much More Than a Leader Award" for her long-standing engagement, support and service to the Y and its mission. The award will be presented to her by the 2015 honoree Vince Foglia, chairman of Sage Products and honorary member of the Sage YMCA Board of Directors.

Mrs. Canning is one of the YMCA of Metro Chicago's most passionate, exemplary leaders, as well as being a long-time and devoted board member of the Buehler YMCA.

The YMCA of Metro Chicago’s Third Annual Dinner is co-chaired by John P. Amboian, A. Steven Crown, Vincent W. Foglia, J. Christopher Reyes, M. Jude Reyes, Samuel K. Skinner and all members of the Board of Managers of the YMCA of Metro Chicago.

Hosted by WMAQ-TV’s LeeAnn Trotter, The Y. So Much More™ Recognition Dinner celebrates its role in strengthening children, individuals and families – highlighting the key partners, leaders and programs that support the Y’s mission. The Y’s 2015 event raised more than $1 million.

The YMCA of Metro Chicago’s 2016 The Y. So Much More Recognition Dinner highlights the programs supporting the Y’s mission – to develop strong children, families and healthy communities across Metropolitan Chicago through academic readiness, character development, violence prevention, and fitness and healthy living. The event helps raise funds to strengthen the Y’s ability to meet the changing needs of 200,000 members annually at 22 city and suburban centers, five resident camps and dozens of extension sites.
