The Palatine Jaycees will collect donations of non-perishable food and household supplies from 9:00 AM until noon Saturday, July 19, outside the Jewel-Osco grocery store at 45 Plum Grove Road in Palatine.
Jaycee volunteers will deliver the donations to the Palatine Township Food Pantry, which serves more than 300 local families. Food pantry collections tend to be lowest in the summer months, when there are typically fewer food drives in comparison with the holiday season.
The Jaycees collecting the donations also can give shoppers entering the store lists of the food pantry’s most-needed supplies. Items at the top of the list currently include juice, cereal, toilet tissue, spaghetti sauce, and dish detergent.
