Leaders should not merely shine a light on problems, but offer solutions, roll their sleeves up and work to make those solutions reality.
Any candidate can rattle off a list of problems - achievement gaps, inadequate kindergarten time, large class sizes, the need for boundary changes, cost and communication issues, but Peggy Babcock, James Ekeberg, Gerald Chapman offered a solution. Dave Border worked on the committee to develop that solution and Adam Bauske worked to support it. These five candidates proved they can develop solutions and take action.
Anyone who ever tried to solve a problem knows the road to a solution can be winding. Plans are made, differences of opinion arise and you need to regroup to come at the situation from a different angle. This isn't defeat but an opportunity to incorporate voices and ideas that didn't exist or did not come forward when the journey first began. Great leaders listen and adjust but never lose sight of their goal.

Peggy, James, Gerald, Dave and Adam will take what they learned from the past referendum and incorporate these learnings in future plans to provide the community with better options. They will hit the ground running, stand up for all students and continue their efforts to make District 15 the destination for a premier education.
