Longtime Palatine Restaurant Closed Indefinitely Following Fire

The Fortune Cookie restaurant in Palatine was damaged following a late-night blaze Monday.

A longtime Chinese restaurant in Palatine will remain closed indefinitely following a fire late Monday, according to media reports.

Fire crews found flames coming from the roof of the Fortune Cookie, 570 N. Smith Street, after arriving on scene at 11:48 p.m. on Monday, according to the Daily Herald. The fire was brought under control by 12:20 a.m., and no one was injured in the blaze at the restaurant, which was closed at the time.

Damage estimates were between $50,000 and $75,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Journal & Topics Newspapers.
