Malas and Mantras February 23
In this creative and meditative workshop we string our own mala beads and develop a personal mantra to incorporate in a closing mediation.

Mala is Sanskrit for “garland”. Malas are often referred to as mala beads or prayer beads. They are a strand of 108 beads used for keeping count while chanting, reciting or mentally repeating a Mantra during meditations. Malas can also be made of 27 beads or 21 beads for use in shorter meditations. Mala beads have been used in Buddhism and Hinduism for centuries and the traditional Rudraksha mala dates back to the 10th century.
There are many theories surrounding the significance of the number 108. Considered a sacred number in Hinduism. It is said that the number 1 stands for God, the universe or your own highest truth; 0 stands for emptiness and humility in spiritual practice; and 8 stands for infinity and timelessness. It offers people a tool of reflection in their personal journey.
In this creative and meditative workshop we will string our own mala beads and develop a personal mantra to incorporate in a closing mediation.
