Man Attempts To Grab Cop's Gun During Arrest Confrontation: Palatine PD
The 34-year-old was reportedly knocking on a neighbor's apartment door and attempting to gain entry prior to police arrival.

PALATINE, IL — A Palatine man is facing a number of charges, including a felony, after he reportedly attempted to grab a police officer's gun during a confrontation last week. Billy L. Logan, 34, of the 800 block of W. Panorama Drive, was knocking on a neighbor's apartment door and attempting to gain entry prior to police arrival.
Logan, who was released following a detention hearing, is accused of felony attempt to disarm a peace officer, two counts of aggravated assault to a police officer, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of resisting a peace officer, and one count of disorderly conduct. The charges were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Logan is due back in court on April 6.
According to Palatine police, officers were responding to a report of a disturbance involving an intoxicated person at around 9:20 p.m. Feb. 24, in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive. Logan was reportedly trying to get into a neighbor's apartment.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Logan in the apartment building hallway, where he was holding a glass bottle. Police said he was uncooperative with the officers and became confrontational during the investigation.
Logan actively resisted officers' attempts to detain him during the encounter. While officers worked to place him into custody, Logan struggled with them. He reached for an officer's service weapon, contacting the officer's holster. The weapon remained secured and was not removed from the holster at any time. Officers were able to safely take Logan into custody after a brief struggle.
