Man Charged in Juvenile Kidnapping, Sexual Abuse Case: Palatine PD

The 26-year-old Palatine resident faces multiple felony charges following an incident involving a juvenile.

PALATINE, IL — An arrest has been made in connection with an incident involving a juvenile, who Palatine police say was robbed and sexually abused Monday morning in the 200 block of West Wood Street.

Kearve K. Williams, 26, of the 1100 block of E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, is accused of felony counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated criminal sexual abuse (victim between the ages of 13 and 16), as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges.

At a Wednesday detention hearing, a judge ordered Williams to remain detained in the Cook County Jail until his next scheduled court date on March 6.

According to Palatine police, at around 7 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a juvenile calling for help in the 200 block of West Wood Street. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who reported being robbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown male. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Palatine Fire Department evaluated the victim at the scene before releasing her to her parents.

The suspect also reportedly stole the victim's cellphone during the incident.

Detectives initiated an intensive investigation, which included canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance video. They also coordinated victim services as part of their investigative procedures. Through these efforts, detectives developed information identifying a suspect.

Officers and detectives located a person matching the suspect's description, later identified as Williams, in downtown Palatine. Police said Williams initially fled on foot and a brief pursuit involving detectives and patrol officers ensued. He was eventually taken into custody at around 11:30 a.m., nearly five hours after the incident involving the juvenile victim occurred.
