Founded in 1999, The Lakeside Singers is an ensemble dedicated to bridging the worlds of classical and contemporary choral music with a membership that is drawn from both disciplines. The chorus comprises professional singers, composers and arrangers who have performed on TV and radio commercials, operas, early music ensembles, film scores, Broadway shows, jazz clubs, cruise ships, cabarets and classical concerts around the country. Members are selected entirely through auditions and must re-audition every two years. The Lakeside Singers’ programs combine cross-cultural classical literature from around the world with stylistically authentic arrangements of jazz, gospel, rock, folk, R&B and other contemporary genres. Headquartered in Evanston, The Lakeside Singers come from all around the Chicago area – from as far away as Oswego, Lake Zurich, Elmhurst, Oak Park, Batavia and the city’s south side.
Mike Molloy and members of The Lakeside Singers come together to present a concert to warm a February afternoon. Classical music you will recognize and contemporary music you know and love. This ensemble of professional singers and musicians is well known for stunning performances of music of all genres.
