Missing Woman Seen On Police Bodycam Before Vanishing: Palatine PD
Police released new images of Alyssa Smith, 24, as her boyfriend told police he last saw her entering a car with two unidentified people.
PALATINE, IL — A 24-year-old woman who disappeared last month was captured on Chicago police body camera footage and video in the days before she went missing, and her boyfriend told investigators he last saw her getting into a car with two unidentified people, according to new details released Friday by Palatine police.
Alyssa M. Smith, 24, was reported missing by a family member on Sept. 30. Investigators have since confirmed two sightings of Smith on Chicago's West Side and are following up on additional reports of possible sightings, according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department.
Chicago police officers encountered Smith and her boyfriend shortly before 3 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 4000 block of West Monroe Street, authorities said. During that interaction, Smith declined to provide her name to responding officers and did not accept police services before leaving the area on foot.

Smith's boyfriend told investigators he last saw her during the early morning hours of Sept. 30 in the 400 block of South Kostner Avenue in Chicago. According to his account, Smith entered a dark-colored Honda occupied by two unidentified individuals.
Palatine police have not identified those individuals or released additional details about the vehicle.
Detectives have received several reports of possible sightings of Smith in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood, including one from a community outreach worker who believed they saw her near Lake Street and Central Park Avenue on Oct. 5.
Police said that sighting has not been confirmed.
Other unconfirmed sightings have generally been reported between 1 p.m. and midnight in West Garfield Park, particularly near Cicero Street and Fifth Avenue, according to police.
Palatine detectives are working with the Chicago Police Department and Cook County Sheriff's Department to investigate leads. Detectives have also conducted searches in areas associated with reported sightings.
Smith is described as approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing between 135 and 140 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, multiple piercings and numerous tattoos, including a Pennywise clown tattoo on her left shoulder.
She was previously reported to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light khaki-colored pants or sweatpants and white Adidas shoes. Her current clothing is unknown.
The search has been especially difficult for Smith's family, including her mother, Rebecca Smith, of Fox River Grove, who has been publicly appealing for help finding her daughter.
Rebecca Smith previously told Fox News Digital that her daughter had traveled to Chicago with her boyfriend, who returned home without her. The family had not heard from Alyssa since Sept. 27, according to a previous Patch report.
The mother also expressed concerns about conflicting accounts of her daughter's disappearance. Police have not publicly identified Smith's boyfriend as a suspect or accused him of wrongdoing.
Anyone with information about Smith's whereabouts is asked to contact Palatine police detectives at 847-359-9000. Anyone who sees Smith or believes they know her current location should call 911.
