New Indian Restaurant Slated to Open in Palatine

A new Indian restaurant could open as soon as this weekend in Palatine’s Woodcraft Plaza shopping center on Dundee Road, the Daily Herald reports.

India Bhawan received approval from the village board Monday to open at 1280 W. Dundee Road. The space was formerly occupied by Rossina de Lucca, an Italian eatery and bakery that closed in its first year after opening in 2014, according to the newspaper.

According to India Bhawan’s website: “India Bhawan features traditional Indian cuisine inspired by the most northern regions of Punjab and Rajasthan, to the more tropical southern regions of Andhra and Tamil Nadu. ... Lighter, occasionally spicier and more varied in flavors than the cuisines of other parts of India, the menu at India Bhawan will remain ingredient and tradition-driven, while offering innovative interpretations of North and South Indian ’home-style’ cooking.”
