“We’ve received an awesome response from pizza lovers in the Chicagoland area, and are excited to expand to a great family community like Palatine,” said Randy Grier, CEO of Pie Five.

To kick off the opening celebration, 50 percent of pre-opening proceeds will be donated to the Illinois chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation. On Monday, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Mayor Jim Schwantz in attendance.

The Pie Five model allows patrons to top their pizzas any way they want for $6.99. Pie Five customers can create with four crusts (including artisan thin, classic pan, whole grain Neapolitan and gluten-free), seven sauces and 28 fresh toppings.

Pie Five plans to open 500 company-owned and franchise units across the country in the next five years. There are more Chicago-area locations planned before the end of the year, including a Pie Five in Bloomingdale, Elmhurst and Glenview.
