PALATINE, IL — The Village of Palatine and Groot are working together to provide refuse carts to all single-family and townhome dwellings in Palatine at no cost. The standard size cart (95 gallons) will be delivered to all single-family and townhome dwellings but residents may select a smaller size (35 or 65 gallon) if preferred, according to village officials.

The standard size (95 gallon) refuse carts will be delivered in late November.

If a resident would prefer a smaller refuse cart, they can e-mail palatine@groot.com and include their name, address, phone number, and requested smaller refuse cart size (35 gallon or 65 gallon) by no later than October 15.

"As the refuse carts are being provided at no charge, there is no monetary advantage to select a smaller cart," according to information posted on the village of Palatine website. "Please note that whatever size is preferred, it must hold one week's worth of refuse for your home."

Residents may request to change cart size following the initial delivery for a one-time charge of $30.
