NWSC PTA Presents SPARK Meeting May 23
The topic for the workshop is "Just Give Him a Whale."

On Monday, May 23, 2016, the SPARK (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge)
Committee of the Northwest Suburban Council PTA/PTSA presents a free parent education workshop from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Walter R. Sundling Junior High School, 1100 N. Smith Street, Palatine. The topic for the workshop is “Just Give Him a Whale.”
This free workshop is open to anyone in the local community. Considering the fascinations, passions and interest areas of learners, powerful new ways of viewing these areas as positive teaching tools that calm, motivate and improve learning will be illustrated. Dr. Patrick Schwarz will include learning standards-based academic content, developing social connections, minimizing anxiety, boosting literacy learning and mathematics skills, expanding communication skills and much more!
Dr. Patrick Schwarz is a dynamic and engaging professor, author, motivational speaker and leader in Education (Inclusive Education, Special Education, General Education, Educational Leadership) and Human Services. He is a professor at National Louis University, Chicago. Patrick’s company is Creative Culture Consulting LLC. He is the author of From Disability to Possibility, You’re Welcome (with Paula Kluth), Just Give Him the Whale (with Paula Kluth) and Pedro’s Whale (with Paula Kluth). His new book is From Possibility to Success.
In an effort to reach as many families as possible, live Spanish translation will be provided at this meeting.

The SPARK Committee realizes the importance of providing: relevant programs and resources related to special education; opportunities to network, receive support and help; and connections for parents to outside sources.
