Online Claims Palatine School Closed Due To Safety Threat 'False': Village

PALATINE, IL — Village officials are clarifying misinformation circulating on social media Friday that a school is closed.

"There are false claims stating that Fremd High School is closed due to a safety threat. This is not accurate," the Village of Palatine said in a 9:47 a.m. social media post. "Fremd High School is open and operating as normal, and there is no known threat to students or staff at this time."

Officials said residents "should rely on official school and public safety communications" for accurate information.
