Pair Stole From Goodwill Store: Palatine Police Blotter

Palatine police responded to multiple reports of burglaries to motor vehicles and retail thefts recently.

The following information is from the Palatine Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On Nov. 27 between 8 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Cedar St., an unknown offender(s) made entry to the victim’s unlocked 2017 Chevrolet SUV and removed two canvas shopping bags (unknown value).

On Nov. 30 between 7 p.m. and 8:08 p.m. in the 700 block of E. Dundee Rd., an unknown offender(s) made entry to the victim’s 2013 Nissan sedan via smashing the rear driver window. Taken was an Amazon package containing a Bluetooth wireless microphone valued at $61.

Jesus E. Sanchez-Rubio, 24, of the 1900 block Green Lane was arrested and charged with retail theft at TJ Maxx, 715 E. Dundee Road on Nov. 30. A Loss Prevention employee observed Sanchez-Rubio pass the last point of sale without payment of a backpack, clothing, and shoes (total value $372).

Bohdan Matiyash, 23 and Nadia Matiyash, 21, both of the 1900 block of Brice Court, were arrested and charged with retail theft at the Goodwill store, 1381 N. Rand Road on Nov 30. An employee observed the two subjects place weights and toys into their backpacks and pass the last point of sale without payment. The total value of all items taken was $23.93.
