Palatine-Based Nonprofit Hosts Winter Break Event ‘Teen Rave’

A ‘Teen Rave’ will be held during Winter Break from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Durty Nellie’s. This event will provide an opportunity for parents, along with junior high/high school students to enjoy an evening of fun, all under one roof.

The Teen Rave is sponsored by Fathers Helping Fathers, a Palatine-based 501(c)(3) national nonprofit that promotes strong and healthy relationships between children and their parents.

The event will include an opportunity for junior high and high school students to enjoy an evening of dancing and spending time with friends in the band room (downstairs) at Durty Nellie’s, along with fog, lasers, and a DJ playing music throughout the evening. The Teen Rave will mimic a dance club, but will be held in a safe and supervised atmosphere.

The adult portion of the event will be held upstairs at Durty Nellie’s, which overlooks the band room, so parents can enjoy time with other adults while being able to observe their children enjoying the event. Parents are not only invited, but required to attend, and will need to sign a waiver at the door to account for children in attendance that are under their supervision.

“The goal of the Teen Rave is to create a positive, safe environment as a social outlet for parents and children; parents will show their kids they are present, while allowing them to have space to enjoy time with their friends,” said Dana Roe, executive director of Fathers Helping Fathers.

This event will include dinner, soft drinks, unlimited music, giveaways and a silent auction. Space is limited; tickets can be purchased online at this link.
