Palatine Chamber of Commerce Encourages Residents to Shop Local

Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov 24, 2018), and individuals are encouraged to patronize Palatine businesses.

The annual Small Business Saturday is this coming Saturday, November 24, 2018, and the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to ‘explore Palatine’ and shop at local businesses this Saturday and whenever they can.

Small Business Saturday is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and the last Saturday in November, and is traditionally one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

“We encourage our residents to consider spending their dollars locally this coming Saturday, which provides many benefits to the community,” said Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce President Shawn Jackson of Vicarious Productions, Inc. “Sales tax dollars spent in Palatine support Village services (police, fire, and other vital services), helps local business owners to survive and thrive, and helps to keep local people employed – all while strengthening our local economy and the overall vibrancy of our Village.”

Statistics show that for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, $48 of those dollars comes back to Palatine, while shopping at a more regional, ‘big box’ store brings $14 back to the Village – and just $1 comes back to Palatine when people shop online and spend the same amount.

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce encourages residents to patronize all businesses that are located in the Palatine community, thanks area residents for their support and wishes everyone a happy holiday season!
