Palatine Historical Society Presents Photo Scavenger Hunt on July 29
Find the photo clues, win prizes, and sample a new IPA at Emmett's Brewing Co.
2023 marks the 150th anniversary of the construction of the George H. Clayson House, home to the Palatine Historical Society. The Society has been celebrating this milestone throughout 2023 with CH150 events and activities. Past events have included historical displays, a special room dedication for long-time volunteer Denise Limburg at the house, a Flag Day Ceremony, a Good Old Summertime Party, a spectacular House and Garden Walk, serving as the 2023 Palatine Jaycees Hometown Fest Parade Marshal, and more.
The Society’s next event is a Photo Scavenger Hunt scheduled for Saturday, July 29 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, starting and ending at Emmett’s Brewing Co., 110 N. Brockway Street, Palatine. Registered attendees will receive a scavenger hunt form with close-up photos of different items in downtown Palatine. After identifying the locations and turning in their form, attendees will receive a complimentary commemorative glass, one entry into a free prize drawing featuring items donated by local merchants and organizations, and a free 5oz sample of the new Session IPA “Three of a Perfect Pear” developed by Emmett’s and inspired by George H. Clayson’s fruit tree farms. Those under age 21 will receive apple juice. Tastings have been generously provided by Emmett’s Brewing Co. Ordering off the regular Emmett’s menu for food and additional beverages will also be available.
The registration fee is $10 for adults, $5 for youth, and free for ages 5 and under. Registration is available online at https://palatinehistoricalsociety.ticketleap.com/scavengerhunt/ or at Emmett’s on the event date starting at 2:00pm.

The new Three of a Perfect Pear blend created by Emmett’s for this special year was inspired by the many fruit trees owned by Clayson. The aroma is biscuits, apricot, mango, pineapple and pear – providing a refreshing summer IPA with flavors of light toast, fruit slices and a light crisp bitterness. The official description is “Three malts, three hops; one Perfect Mess. Summer Session Ale with an orchard of fruity aromas, a touch of honey sweetness and firm yet forgiving bitterness.” Three of a Perfect Pear is already available at Emmett’s, so don’t wait to taste this fruity, and perfect for summer, IPA.
