According to police, the two victims had been arguing earlier with Fields. The instigating event was when Fields hurled a plate of food against the wall of the apartment he shares with his girlfriend, the Tribune reports. Fields then allegedly punched one of the men in the face, setting off a tussle between all three men, police said.
As the struggle ensued, Fields allegedly pulled an 8-inch steak knife from his pocket. He is accused of stabbing his girlfriend's son, 23, twice in the back and the son's friend and roommate, 22, in the right side of his torso, police said. He also accidentally stabbed himself in the leg, the Tribune reports.
