Palatine OKs Pot Sales In Town

The village council approved the sale of marijuana at businesses in town once it becomes legal for recreational use in the New Year.

PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Village Council voted Monday in favor of allowing businesses in town to sell marijuana once it becomes legal for recreational use on Jan. 1. Businesses wishing to sell pot will only be able to operate in certain business districts or manufacturing areas and must first get a special use permit, according to the Daily Herald.

During its Monday meeting, the village council also approved the max sales tax allowed on pot sales: 3 percent.
