Palatine Rocks Singing Contest sponsored by Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce

Are you a future Caleb Johnson, Josh Kaufmann or Scotty McCreery?  Come join us at the 2nd Annual “PALATINE ROCKS SINGING CONTEST” to be held Saturday , July 26, 2014.  

There are two age divisions for this competition:  Teens ages 13 to 19, and Juniors Ages 6 – 12 years of age. 

The contest will be held as part of the outdoor Rockin’ the Blocks festival in downtown Palatine in the BMO Harris Bank lot - at the corner of Brockway/Slade Streets.)  

Rules for the contest are:

• Max 4 minutes. 
• Soloists or duets only.
• All songs and performances must be appropriate for all ages family entertainment
• Participants will be judged on tone, pitch, rhythm, expression, timing, stage presentation, and harmony (duets only).
• Must be a Palatine area resident 
• Sing a cappella, with background instrumental music on CD, or live instrument (guitar, keyboard).  No drums, pianos allowed.
• The panel of judges will be local officials and local music and/or voice teachers.
• Exact time schedule for contestants will be confirmed via phone and email.

 Fee is $5.00 for soloists, $10.00 for duets. 

WINNERS: Winner of each category will receive a certificate and trophy authenticating their win at Rockin' the Blocks “Palatine Rocks Singing Contest”, and a gift card from a local business. 

Preliminaries:  In the event there are more than eight (8) entries per age division, there will be a preliminary round competition prior to the July 26th competition.

 REGISTRATION: REGISTRATION IN ADVANCE IS REQUIRED.  Deadline to register is July 14, 2014.  To obtain a form, call the Palatine Chamber of Commerce at 847-359-7200.  Participants under the age of 18 years are required to have signed parental permission.
