Palatine Township Kicks Off 37th Annual Back to School Supplies Program
Palatine Township's Back to School Supplies Program begins its 37th year kicking off at the Palatine Parade on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Palatine Township’s Back to School Supplies Program proudly begins its 37th year, officially kicking off during the Palatine Jaycees Hometown Fest Parade on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Township staff and volunteers will be walking in the parade this year collecting school supplies, non-perishable food for the pantry and monetary donations to support the program.
"Each year, we are inspired by the compassion and commitment of our community,” said Palatine Township Supervisor Andy-John G. Kalkounos. “Having residents donate over 1,000 fully stocked backpacks for community children is a powerful example of how local action creates lasting impact.”
This long-standing annual initiative provides essential school supplies to children from under-resourced families within Palatine Township who to pre-registered students residing within Township boundaries. Backpack pick-up day is not only a chance for students to gear up for school, but it also serves as a valuable resource fair for families. Parents will have the opportunity to connect with local vendors offering support services, including information about mental health programs for children and families, community childcare, legal aid services, and assistance with ordering Vital Records through Palatine Township. Its continued success is a reflection of the community’s generous donations and unwavering support.
