Palatine Township Seeks Volunteers for 'Apple Tree Campaign'

The program kicks off July 4th, and is now in its 28th year. It benefits under resourced children by providing them with school supplies.

Palatine Township is seeking volunteers during July and August to assist with the Apple Tree Campaign. Now in its 28th year, the program provides backpacks full of donated school supplies for under resourced children kindergarten through 9th grade who reside in the Township.

The kick-off to accept donations will occur at the July 4th parade during Palatine’s Hometown Fest. The full list of school supplies on the donation list can be found here: http://www.palatinetownship.com/apple-tree-campaign/.

The Township float will be stationed at the starting point of the parade at Cedar and Wilson streets prior to the parade beginning, and donations of non-perishable food and school supplies will be accepted. Donations will also be collected along the parade route.

Monetary donations for the purpose of purchasing school supplies are also being accepted by the Township. Checks should be made payable to ‘Palatine Township Needy Family Fund’ with Apple Tree included in the memo section of the check. Checks can be mailed to: Palatine Township, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois 60067. School supply donations can be dropped off between July 5 and August 5, 2016 at the following locations:

Those interested in volunteering for the Apple Tree Campaign will assist with school supply pick-up, sorting, packing and distribution. School supplies will be distributed August 11-August 13.
