Palatine Township Sponsors Holiday Programs for In-Need Residents

Thanksgiving Baskets, Adopt-A-Family, Angel Tree and the annual Toy Drive campaign are all coming up this holiday season.

The holiday season is a time of year when many families in Palatine Township struggle to provide all of the extras that go along with celebrations, in addition to the basics such as food, clothing and shelter. This is why Palatine Township sponsors a number of giving programs that provide assistance to those who need it through the holidays.

  • Adopt-A-Family: Palatine Township families, clubs, businesses, churches and organizations can ‘adopt’ an in-need family, and donate clothing, toys and gifts during to be given to the them over the holidays. There are currently 30 identified families that would benefit from this program. Please visit http://www.palatinetownship.co... for a donor form. The sign-up deadline is Monday, November 14, 2016.
  • Thanksgiving Baskets: Baskets that include all the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner are included in these baskets. Volunteers are being sought to sort and check the items on November 10, 14, 15, and 16, any time from 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Thanksgiving Baskets will be distributed to in-need Palatine Township families on November 19.   • Angel Trees: A tree with angels on it is currently in the lobby at the Palatine Township Center, and area residents are asked to select an angel and purchase a gift valued between $25 and $35. These presents, along with the angel, will be given to an economically disadvantaged child or senior citizen living in Palatine Township. Wrapped gifts need to be turned into the Township by December 13. To learn more, visit http://www.palatinetownship.com/angel-tree-2016/.
  • Toy Drive: New and unwrapped toys are being accepted at the Palatine Township Center until December 16. These items will be given to children who have been identified as in-need. The toys can be dropped off during normal business hours.

The Palatine Township Center is located at 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine. Normal business hours are Mondays 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until noon (with the exception of Saturday, November 12 and Saturday, November 19).
